Mentoring: A Student-Centric Initiative

Mentoring is a significant student-centric program introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) across its affiliated universities and colleges. The initiative aims to support students by addressing both their academic and non-academic challenges during their academic journey and beyond.

The Mentor-Mentee Relationship:

Mentoring establishes a structured and nurturing relationship between the mentor (a faculty member) and the mentee (a student). Mentors play a pivotal role in guiding postgraduate students through transitional phases and challenging situations, contributing to their academic and personal development. They utilize their experience, expertise, and interpersonal skills to promote the holistic growth of mentees.

Mentoring at Arunachal Pradesh University:

At Arunachal Pradesh University, students come from diverse cultural, academic, and geographical backgrounds. For many, adapting to the new academic and social environment poses significant challenges. Mentors play a crucial role in helping students adapt, grow, and succeed in this environment through observation, assessment, counselling, and guidance.

  • Objectives:

• To foster a healthy and supportive bond between students and faculty to encourage mutual trust and open communication.
• To provide guidance to postgraduate students to help them overcome challenges and capitalize on available opportunities for growth and development.
• To offer personalized counselling and assistance to students who face academic difficulties, while also supporting troubled students in managing extra-academic and personal challenges.
• To help students achieve their academic goals and enhance their professional competencies for future career success.
• To promote better teacher-student interaction outside the formal classroom setting, encouraging mentorship through personalized discussions and engagements.
