Theme of the Seminar
In the contemporary global educational discourse, culturally responsive pedagogy (CRP) has
emerged as a transformative approach that acknowledges learners’ cultural identities as valuable
assets in the teaching–learning process. In India, tribal and indigenous communities possess rich
epistemologies, ecological wisdom, oral traditions, languages, and value systems, yet these remain
largely underrepresented within mainstream educational frameworks. This disconnect often results
in cultural alienation, loss of indigenous identity, and reduced educational engagement among tribal
learners.
The National Seminar on “Culturally Responsive Pedagogy: Integrating Indigenous Knowledge in
Tribal Education” seeks to create an academic and dialogic platform for educators, researchers,
policymakers, and community representatives to critically examine culturally grounded pedagogical
practices. The seminar aims to explore innovative strategies for integrating indigenous knowledge
systems into formal education, thereby fostering inclusive, equitable, and contextually relevant
learning environments.
